Storytelling Workshop-Owl Babies

Our storytelling text for the second half of Autumn term was Owl Babies. It fitted in with our Magical Me theme. We read the book and then began to learn our version.

We used a story map to help us remember the words and learnt some Makaton actions too.

Our parents and carers were invited to school to listen to us tell them the story of Owl Babies. They all said we did a fantastic job. When we asked them they said they couldn’t think of a way to make it any better!!!

After we’d told them to story and shown them the actions we went back to our classroom to get busy making puppets to take home.

We love it when our parents and carers come to join in with us at school. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we do. Thanks for coming. We hope to see you at our Spring Term storytelling.

Owl Visit

We were very lucky this week when we had some special visitors in school. Bob brought his owls Archie, Gizmo, Millgan and Ronnie to school to meet us.

We had an amazing time learning all about the owls. Then there was the best bit- we got to watch the owls fly and some of us had a go at holding the owls! It was very exciting as they flew right over our heads.

Our teachers held the Indian Eagle Owl because we was too big and heavy for us to hold.

When we’d learnt all about the owls it was time for them to have rest and for us to do some work. We did some sketching of the owls looking really carefully at what we could see.

We had the best time and wish the owls could come to school everyday.

Hocus Pocus- Magic Potions

We’ve been having a wonderful time this week making potions in our water tray. There was vinegar, which towards the end of the week kept changing colour, and bicarbonate of soda. We had a fabulous time exploring what happened when we mixed them together and loved talking about what was happening.

We learnt lots about how to make the ingredients change and had some imaginative ideas to explain what was happening. It was lots of fun and we’d love to do it again soon.
