Our storytelling text this half term has been The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We read the book first and then learnt the key words and phrases to retell the story ourselves. I’m sure you’ve read the book, if not look for the copy in school or visit the library.
We invited our grown ups to our storytelling session which we held for the last time in the school hall of the old building. We used the story map to help us remember the story and we also did the Makaton actions we’ve been learning. If you came to the session you’ll have a copy to practise at home. Please ask if you want to see them.
We sung the song we’ve been practising as well There’s A Tiny Caterpillar On A Leaf. It helps us remember what happens to the caterpillar as it turns into a butterfly.
Once we’d done our performance we headed back to the classrooms to make our storytelling necklaces with or grown ups.
We did a fantastic job and everyone helped out to get our necklaces finished so we could take them home.
We also found out who had won the Library Raffle for Spring Term. Well done to Erin’s mum! A big thank you to all the grown ups who come to the Library with us. We wouldn’t be able to go without you. If you’d like to come with us on Monday afternoons please ask us or look out for the sign up sheet in class and next term it could be you winning the book collection.
